Dr. Ooi Shir May is a Senior Lecturer in International Business at the School of International Studies, Universiti Utara Malaysia. She served as the Postgraduate Chairperson in 2024. Dr. Ooi holds a Ph.D. in International Business from Universiti Sains Malaysia, a Master of Business from the University of Queensland (Australia), and a first-class Bachelor of Business Administration from Multimedia University (Malaysia). Her research focuses on firms’ internationalisation, international marketing, and cross cultural management. She teaches various undergraduate and postgraduate courses including International Business, Cross-Cultural Management, Export Management, and International Strategic Management. She actively supervises postgraduate research students. Dr. Ooi is also a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and a licensed Unit Trust Consultant under FIMM. She has published in internationally refereed and indexed journals and received prestigious awards, including the 2020 Emerald Literati Award and the 2024 Best Teaching Case Study Award from The Case Centre, Cranfield University UK. She was also honoured with the 2024 Universiti Utara Malaysia Service Excellence Award, recognising her outstanding contributions and 15 years of dedicated service to the university.
